The former world number one Justine Henin, who said last month that he is preparing his return to high level tennis, received an invitation to the Australia Open 2010, organizers of the event.
"I talked to Justine's team during the weekend and I'm glad I could fulfill his wish of receiving an invitation to the Australia Open," he said in a statement the tournament director Craig Tiley said.
"Justine is the most competitive, winner of seven Grand Slam titles, and we receive back in the Australia Open," Tiley said.
Belgian tennis player of 27 years announced his return after 18 months off the track, saying it had been inspired by the surprising return of compatriot Kim Clijsters, who quit the professional circuit to raise a family.
Henin, Australia Open Champion 2004, beating rival to larger and stronger foothold in the women's draw despite his small stature of 1.67 meters, and won 41 titles before retiring in May 2008 at the height of his success.
